5 day forecast for Llandysul
Rhydlewis and District Gardening Club held their annual Spring Show on Tuesday 31st March 2009, in the Rhydlewis Village Hall. Entries were down on last year, but members still managed to fill the hall with masses of colour and the scents of Spring. The judge, Mr Mike Sinnot, formerly of Kew Gardens was impressed by the quality of the entries, despite a lack of sunshine and warmth this spring.
The "JB Organic Cup" for the "Most points in the show" was jointly won this year by Lyn Toms and Janette Sharman. The "Derrick and Barbara Calow Memorial Cup" for the "Best Exhibit", was won by Ged Cary for a beautiful exhibit of perfect daffodils.
A new prize this year (awarded in memory of Pam Hufferdine), was a beautiful paper weight depicting a pretty selection of flowers; presented for a pot of tulips grown from bulbs given to club members last autumn. The first winner of this award was Michael Lloyd.
The winner of the "Children’s under 8 years class" was won jointly by Bleddyn Morgan and Ffion Wyn-Jones, and the winner of the "Children’s 9 to 14 years class" was won jointly by Dafydd Morgan and Hedydd Elias. The winner of the "Michelle and Charlie Burnett Trophy" for the "Best Exhibit – Children’s Classes" was won by Ffion Wyn Jones.
The evening was very well attended by both members and Rhydlewis village community, and drew to a close with an auction of donated daffodils and other exhibits; followed by a raffle and refreshments. The chairman thanked everyone who had made the evening a success.
